Oh Mississippi. The very best sunrise I've ever seen. The pink was electric neon and there were so many trees so tall that the sky looked green, yellow, and purple at the same time. The first time I drove through Mississippi I stayed at a terrifying holiday inn that was under all sorts of construction. It was between three strip clubs and a waffle house.
We had been driving for 13 hours, it was 2 am, and I had two little dachshunds with me that were not okay with being in a strange hotel. As we were walking down the hall they were barking and making a ruckus. A very angry, gigantic man wearing only a stained white tank top and a gold chain opened his door to yell at us to quiet down. He had no pants or underpants on. My little pup Harleaux, always the tenacious defender, slipped out of her collar in a fit of protective rage and ran straight at him snarling.
When he got out of her way she had run into his room and wouldn't come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to like walk into this naked man's freaky hotel room to retrieve my dog.
The next day the sunrise was one of the best I had ever seen because it looked like this painting and gas was $1.44 a gallon. I was also getting the hell out of Mississippi.
