48x36 - Acrylic, Resin coated beach bomb :)
Avenida Del Sol is our favorite beach, with our favorite secret parking.
There is nothing in life for me like driving up the strand from IB up to Coronado. It’s this back road with the Pacific Ocean on one side and the harbor on the other. I have a favorite tree, there’s a lone flamingo that lives there named Floyd. Three years later I’ve made it a point to drive the ten minutes to Avenida Del Sol almost daily so I remember to appreciate living here.
Driving south on the strand there’s a hill just after Coronado Cays Blvd. The shoreline stretches out for as far as your vision will let it. This painting is a moment of that vision - where the ocean meets the sky and it feels like both are moving, just for me to get out of my head long enough to notice. There was a line in my course yesterday- 600 pages in and probably my favorite so far
“This world is full of miracles. They stand in shining silence next to every dream of pain, suffering and guilt. They are the dreams alternative, the choice to be the dreamer, rather than deny the active role of making up the dream.”
Driving to Avenida Del Sol every day, creating every day regardless of the outcome- is me taking responsibility of the choice of being the dreamer/ creator. The beauty of everything I see on that drive is proof of what I have the power to create - with life, with art.
I think this painting looks like that feeling, that force of empowerment.
