16x20 framed. Las Vegas, Nevada
The first time I ever took your class, you became the first teacher I ever heard say “Fuck” on the podium. You are so gold to me, bronze and angelic. You wear color the same way you love people - bright, all at once, and without abandon or apology. When you bend your body into a bow pose or floor bow you become an angelic alien. It is something to see, every time.
I have always loved your class so much because your heart is wild and your light isn’t afraid to shine. I love your courage to travel, your effortless glamour, and how when I think of sunrise in the glittering lights of Las Vegas, Dubai, and India it is you first that I think of. Perfect blonde hair, giant designer sunglasses. You are a force of night darkness as it bends into the light of dawn. The power and opulence of your spirit are profound, it glimmers through the darkness but fits in with it. It was my hope to capture that here. I believe I succeeded.
In this painting, I see a sari with ankle bells. I see the sun rising on the strip, just dark enough for all of the lights to still be on as a new day forms. One of my favorite things lately is picking out a frame for my paintings - kind of like I create something and then get to pick a home for it. For you, I found the fanciest, most intricate gold frame I could come up with. It can come from anywhere on the way to god knows where but it is impossible not to recognize.
You have brought so much kindness and generosity to mine and Kevin's life. I hope you recognize the magnetism and radiance within this canvas that knowing you bring exactly that to other people, all around this world, in a way that only you can. Effortless glamour and a dark neon glimmer, surrounded in gold, of course.
