It’s wonderful, the fleeting moments of illuminated life that one can catch. This painting is about seeing The Red Sea in Sharm El Sheikh for the first time in my life. The water was so opulent blue-green against the copper-looking stone hills. As the boat went out deeper into the water it got darker and darker blue. I felt gold and silver and sparkly when I got into that water. Kind of like life was the way life says it is in novels and magazines and for that day, it was my turn to live that kind of life, with those kinds of colors. The Red Sea is 40 % salt so once you get in, you just float.
Float I did, watching the stone and copper hills. Feeling like glitter, the wind, the salt, the water, the rocks - all at the same time. All at one. All alive, present, and at peace with myself in that living.
