The San Simeon Peninsula is my favorite hike to date. What I love about it the most is the vast, choppy gray that the Pacific Ocean becomes, many feet beneath the black rock cliffs and being high up in the fog. I have always loved and appreciated the way that fog makes everything in view seem more real but at the same time not. Like a dream where I count my footsteps. I have spent a considerable amount of my life in a fog - likely counting my footsteps in living dream -and only now as I emerge into who I actually am, can I look back and appreciate the way the fog of the memories makes everything seem far away, and much more magical in that regard.
