2020 was a wild ride of solitude, change, and growth. What made the spectacle in the sky so rare, then? It’s been nearly 400 years since the planets passed this close to each other in the sky, and nearly 800 years since the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter occurred at night, as it will for 2020, allowing nearly everyone around the world to witness this “great conjunction."
Or, the great alignment. My husband and I watched the sky from a freezing night beach right where San Diego meets Tijuana. It felt so special to see those little specks align in the sky while the invisible, black ocean roared. For a second it felt like Earth met the Sky and we were standing somewhere in the middle, lost in the starlight of alignment.
