One of my favorite hobbies is going on hikes that make it feel like I’m on a different planet. The planet where there isn’t a target, Starbucks, McDonald's, and Lowe’s every 7 miles
I like to find places that are simple, with no concrete, where the open spaces are gigantic but the sky is still bigger. Places, where I can focus on the way light, hits the things that have existed here before time.
I was hiking the Cima Dome last year at sunset and this is what the hills looked like. I said “I’m not walking all the way up there” but we did. We sat at the very peak and watched the sun go down. Everything was pink and sparkling.
I think I store up certain memories and pitches of light & later on, at random, they come out again in my art. I never know how, and I never know when. But it’s a fun game.
