The first time I ever met your Dad, I thought he looked like a movie star. A year or so later, I met your Mom, and she looked like a movie star too. I was so fascinated by how she was from New York City. She worked in an auto body shop then and seemed to have lots of brothers. I loved her eyes, her voice, her story.
Your parents had the most beautiful, fancy wedding, and traveled together afterward often, all around the world. For a very long time, they hoped for you to come. You took your time but as a glittering firework on the 4th of July, their life with you began.
It is May of 2021 right now. You won’t be born for another three months but I can already imagine you as an adult, with your Dad's chiseled cheekbones and your Mom's deep and captivating eyes.
This painting is currently sitting next to me in the sun, radiating opulent sparkles as I tip-tap away on my keypad. In a way, I feel like it is your spirit, so excited to just get here already, helping me to come up with these words. I find such comfort that this piece will grow up with you as a reminder of how much your arrival was anticipated, and the vast amount of space, radiance and wonder you will bring to the lives of so many.
I definitely know you will be watching a lot of football with your big family. This painting being New York Giants' colors was not a coincidence. As I watch the canvas I imagine your tiny baby hand tracing over the moon, your bright baby eyes transfixed on the sparkles and textures. I think when you’re a little older your parents will count the stars here and always say that they love you bigger than the whole moon and all the stars. I have no doubt that will be the deepest truth in life they know, every single time they tell you.
So, no matter how old you are I hope this painting follows you throughout life. And that you may always be reminded that you were waited for, and prayed for and that in your arrival you brought so much of the best parts, so much joy, to your family and their friends.
This painting is a portrait of the vast illumination that the excitement of you joining this family has gifted to all that already love you so much. Long may you all sparkle bright, shine big, and make up the whole portrait of joy with each other.
With a love bigger than the whole moon and all the stars.
