18x24 Resin Coated + Glitter
I have this funny belief that before we build our light body and become human we have to incarnate a number of times as plants & animals to see what we’re getting ourselves into on this planet.
It’s just a theory but if it were true I was definitely first a star with the idea to come here in the first place and after that a
saguaro cactus. Nothing gives me the joy that seeing the first few cacti when driving into Arizona does. It feels like the whole earth and all the stars at the same time.
This painting is a piece of those instances in time. Once I was either a very old girl or a very young woman but - the forests of saguaros in the saguaro national forest in Tucson, Arizona are images that will never leave my memory. I remember standing still mid-way up that mountain, overlooking the forest as twilight settled over each cactus. I’d always debate which were older, the cacti or the stars. Those moments were some of the first times in my adult life I felt a part of something deeper than just the circumstances of my current existence.
I hope the slight sparkle, subtle contrast, and deep changing colors in this piece bring you back to a place of something deeper and a part of you too. Back to the saguaros and the stars - back to the memory of the rhythms they create, guiding us through.
